GROOMED

GROOMED, 2016, 12:10 minutes, single-channel video. Grooming is a term used to describe the transgressive and manipulative behavior of sexual predators. The video exposes the way the externalized behaviors, can become internalized through the psyche and in turn, conscious and unconsciously performed through the will of  bodies. The scene and speech rides between sensible cultural critique and neurotic internal dialogue. Looking at a narration of soft-violence performed as rituals in grooming, cultural-transactional desire is performed through a rhythmic home waxing process. Questions around pain, agency, free will, narcissism, subjectivity, objectivity, desire and commerce are exposed to the viewer.  Filmed in Oslo, Norway, 2016.
